What is EmpoweredAdvocates?

EmpoweredAdvocates is a unique 2-part webinar series born from a deep passion for assisting parents of neurodivergent children in attaining the educational support their child deserves.

Drawing from both professional expertise and personal insights, I've crafted this series to provide a supportive space where parents can cultivate the resilience, strength and access practical guidance to confidently step into the role as their child's greatest advocate within the school system.

I understand the complexities and challenges involved in securing the support your child deserves, and my goal is to equip you with the tools and knowledge to navigate this journey with confidence.

EmpoweredAdvocates is an 2 part series crafted to provide a supportive environment exclusively for parents. Participants come together with other parents to enrich their knowledge, enhance their advocacy skills, and foster a sense of empowerment, preparing them to confidently advocate for their childrens educational needs.

What You Might* Gain:

  1. Gain Knowledge: Discover what your child should have access to, receive tips for navigating the school system, learn what to do when your child is already struggling in school, and gain guidance in attaining and implementing support services tailored to your child's needs.

  2. Develop Skills: Acquire practical advocacy skills to assist with obtaining support services and programs, and to collaborate and build rapport with school personnel.

  3. Build Community: Connect with other parents facing similar challenges, share experiences, and support one another in advocating for your children.

*While Dragonfly’s Caregiver Educator aims to provide each participant with the above; individual participation, learning, and application of learning greatly impacts the outcomes that participants experience.

 

What to Expect:

 
  • Learning Topics: Each part of this online series covers essential learning topics relevant to parents advocating for their neurodivergent child. Parents learn to navigate the education system, learn relevant regulations and laws, communicate effectively with educators, and collaborate on developing accommodations that meet the needs of their child.

  • Q&A Time: Open discussions and Q&A sessions follow each webinar, offering the opportunity to seek clarification and troubleshoot individual challenges.

  • Community Chat: Share experiences, successes, and provide support to other parents within an understanding community.
